FL Senators Propose Permanent "Alcohol To Go" Law

Senator Jeff Brandes (R - St. Petersburg) and Senator Jennifer Bradley (R - Fleming Island) filed separate proposals to allow a business licensed for alcohol sales to sell or deliver packaged alcoholic beverages for consumption off the premises. The idea originated with a COVID-19 emergency order which allowed restaurants and other food establishments with liquor licenses to include alcohol with takeout orders.

The proposals hope to "streamline the process and allow Floridians to have more

freedom" according to Sen. Brandes, who noted there have been no major problems since the "alcohol-to-go" executive order was enacted by Governor DeSantis in March 2020.

Brandes' proposal was backed by multiple lobbies in Tallahassee and Governor DeSantis in September supported the idea of allowing alcoholic beverage carryout to become permanent.
